Trailblazers Newsletter - Mar 10, 2012

Winter Trips - As of March 10th, our winter trips are over and we are looking for ideas for summer activities.
Membership Report - We have a total of 49 paid memberships. Membership cost is $10 for everyone.
Trail Rpoert - Larry reports there are a ton of trees and braches on our trails from the winter storm in early March. Our club is looking for an old sleigh for sale or donate to help us carry chain saws behind snowmobiles. A sleigh would help us to carry the tools to clear the trails after bad storm conditions.
Membership Committee - Many discussions were held to try to improve our membership. Four good ideas are being worked on.
Election of Officers - We will be electing new officers at our May 12th meeting. Offices up for grabs are: President, Secretary, Treasurer and one Trustee position.
Membership Appreciation Dinner - Our club offers an annual appreciation dinner in August to all current members.
April's Pizza Party - Our next meeting is Saturday, April 14th at Denton Township Hall. The club will be purchasing pizzas for dinner. If you would like to join us please be at the Denton Township Hall by 6:00 pm so we will have time to put your order in. Bring your own drink. Paper ware will be provided.

Tip Up Town Fun Run - Our club sponsors a snowmobile fun run both Saturday's of Tip Up Town. The first weekend the run could only be done by car due to dangerous ice conditions. The second weekend fared a little better but we only had 85 participants total for both weekends participate, Lack of ice and snow definitely had an impact.
New Business - There is a lot of conversation about snowmobile trails and ORV trails becoming combined. This would allow ORVs to ride on some of the snowmobile only designated trails. Many area businesses are in favor of such a proposal. Currently the DNR is reviewing a proposal. For more information or to voice your opinion, contact your local DNR office.
Next Meeting - Saturday, March 10th at Denton Township Hall at 7:00 pm

Meeting minutes:
Our Christmas party was a big hit as usual. Great food, great people and lots of fun. Our thanks to everyone. Our snowmobile safety class was another success with 18 kids passing. We are asking for ideas to add to our winter snowmobile trips. Our club will continue to ride on Saturdays and Thursday lunch rides. 

Ideas for trips:
Drummand Island Trip - Tom Castor presented the club with information on the trip to Drummand Island. This includes a ferry ride, 80 miles of trails, and otional stay at the Cederville Inn. Tom and Joyce are looking for any dates between Feb 1-5 or other options. Call them at 734-856-6562.
Indian River Trip - Bob and Sheila Blessing are trying to put this todgether 989-422-5229.

Trailblazers Newsletter - Nov 2011

Our membership meeting was held Nov 12, 2011. 
Upcoming activities and trips...
Safety Class - Nov 26th at Roscommon Township Hall 9am to 3pm. The cost is free. Lunch is provided. To sign up your children or offer to help, call Jim Debo at 989-366-4838.
Christmas Party - Our annual party will take place at Denton Township Hall on Saturday, december 10, 2011. Dinner at 6:30 will be catered by Freds of Roscommon. There is a fun gift exchange so bring a $10 - $15 gift. You may also want to bring a gift basket to be auctioned off.  RSVP for party to Jim Debo.
Winter Trips - We will continue our Saturday rides and the Thursday lunch rides this year. We have lots of ideas and need your ideas also for trips including overnighters.
Trail Report - A lot of volunteer work is done and trails are almost ready. After hunting season, a complete run of the trails will be done to do a pre-season check. Trails open Dec 1st along with gates to private property.
Novi Snowmobile Show - Nov 4th - 6th. Diane Barrett and Tom and Joyce Caster attended and represented our club and handed out documentation. Thanks to all three of you.

Trailblazers Newsletter - Aug 2011

The annual club picnic was held at the Deer Run Club house with a catered dinner from Fred's Restaurant of Roscommon. Follwing that, our meeting was held. The financial report was given and accepted. The September meeting is scheduled for Sept 10th at Bob and Judy Cooper's house. Call them ahead to RSVP.

The Oct meeting is scheduled for Oct 8, 2011. October 8th and 9th is Spicer's Sled Fest. Our club will arrange a booth to be used for our swap meet. We are looking for help with the trailer and serving hot dogs.

Membership dues must be paid by sept 1st. Its not much... ($10 for single, $10 for family, and $25 for business).
